Michael Grade opens LSBU Elephant Studios | Interior Photographers London

The new Elephant Studios created by London South Bank University (LSBU) for News and Broadcast students has been acclaimed as a professional standard facility in Southwark. All departments and facilities are found in a live broadcast studio providing students with a realistic environment complete with the latest equipment.
The newsroom developed for the journalism courses has 42″ overhead displays, audio and 80 channel mixers and a News Synergy Workstation. Next door the Mac Lab provides a student study area with 25 quad-core IMacs for digital study and media workshops. The site has had extensive structural refurbishment to physically isolate the Elephant Studios spaces from vibration and noise from the tube lines that pass nearby. Sound studios and editing suites have been built with a ‘room within a room’ approach so that noise and vibration isn’t passed from the outer building fabric to the critical inner recording space | Commercial Building Photographer London | Interior Photographers London See more here

The new Elephant Studios creates an ‘in house’ commercial radio station with a four person radio studio that feeds to a radio control room with five channel mixers, audio playback and live broadcasting tools. The sound studio has been designed to accommodate small bands with acoustically treated control and live room. The console is an SSL AWS 924 Delat with Dynaudio AIR and Genelec monitoring. The sound facilities are completed by seven colorful editing suites for video and sound all of which sit on the 10Gb/s network.
Project and film previews are shown in Elephant Studios own 36 seat 5.1 screening cinema with ipad controlled playback and lighting. Photography students have pro facilities with a double height area complete with a tracked lighting grid, air conditioning and separate colourama systems. Similar facilities are available to film students with the same flexible tracked lighting grid, DMX lighting control, green screens and sound isolation | Interior Photographers London | Commercial Building Photographer London
